Pictures bring us closer

Picture of Thailand Elephants near Chiang Mai, north of Bangkok. The elephants shown here are work elephants. They formerly worked hard at hauling and stacking logs, but Thailand has now made such logging illegal, giving the elephants no work to do. So, now the handlers are having these bored intelligent beasts do elephant tricks and provide rides for tourists in order to earn income for food and to relieve their inactivity.
